My charity of choice is the Food for Thought program for school children in need across the city of Edmonton. The schools identify students that have no breakfast or have little or no lunch, so that Food For Thought can them provide with nutritious, whole food. That way, children can focus on learning.
Family financial hardships are difficult enough to deal with as parents, but to not be able to provide your children with adequate nutrition is even more of a struggle. We all know what it’s like to be “hangry”. Food insecurity is a big problem, especially for children when they have no means of getting food themselves. It impacts their ability to concentrate on learning and is a precursor to other issues in the family, with friends, and it also impacts self-esteem.
You can help too!
This money from your donations is used to purchase healthy, whole food and snacks at the Italian Centre Shop. 100% of the funds raised go to providing food for the students, as administrative costs are absorbed by the supporters and by Edmonton Public Schools.
Each day, Food For Thought serves 14 schools and over 500 students.
